At my day job we use Ramp. A really cool feature of Ramp is virtual cards for different spending budgets. One for professional development, one for food, another for travel. Every time you make a purchase, Ramp tries to bucket it to the right card for you, but you're always left to add a memo and sometimes a receipt. It's this little moment, entering the memo, that keeps you in touch with how much you've spent and how much is left in each budget.
I wanted that feature for my personal budgets. Even having a few credit cards dedicated to specific spending doesn't tell you how much you've spent until it's too late. No bank I could find offers on-demand virtual cards, and every budgeting app out there wants you to connect your bank so it can organize everything for you. That's the opposite of what makes the system work. To see if I could get my wife on board with this way of thinking, I built her Ldgr. Once it had some pretty neat features like widgets and notifications, I thought maybe other people would find it useful too. So I put it in the store.
